Ebook templates
Five shapes that already work.
A template here is the structure of the book — which chapters, in what order, each doing one job. Pick the shape that fits what you are trying to get back, and spend your time on the words instead.

The five structures
Chapter lists, written out.
Nothing on these pages is withheld. Read the outline, build it here or build it somewhere else — the structure is the useful part and it costs nothing to give away.

Cover styles
Six ways to set the same book.
The cover is chosen separately from the structure. Each one is typeset — the type is set to rules, not dragged into place — and any of them can carry drawn artwork behind the title.
- EditorialWarm ivory, serif headlines
- MinimalWhite, quiet, lots of air
- BoldDark cover, gold accents
- SepiaAged paper, deep brown ink
- SlateCool grey, quiet authority
- PressHard black rules on ivory
How to choose
Pick by what you want back, not by what you want to write.
The most common mistake with a template is choosing the one that matches your material. Choose the one that matches the outcome instead — the material can be bent to fit, and the outcome cannot.
- Email addresses, in volume → the checklist. Ten pages, no hesitation, printable last page.
- Qualified enquiries → the consulting guide. It argues a position, so the wrong readers filter themselves out.
- Trial signups → the SaaS benchmark. A number the reader will compare themselves against.
- Discovery calls → the coaching workbook. They arrive having already done the thinking.
- Search traffic and links → the how-to guide. It answers the question completely.
Still unsure? The worked examples show each of these built out with a real outline and the opt-in copy that goes with it.
Questions
About the templates.
- Are these ebook templates free?
- Yes. Every structure on this page is written out in full — the chapters, what each one does, and the length it should run to — and the 50 credits a free CreateEbook account starts with are enough to build any of them into a finished book.
- What is the difference between a template and a cover style?
- A template is the shape of the book: which chapters, in what order, doing what job. A cover style is how it is typeset. You choose them separately, so a coaching workbook can wear the same cover as a benchmark report if that is the look you want.
- Which ebook template should I use for a lead magnet?
- Start with the checklist if you need something live this week, the consulting guide if you want enquiries rather than downloads, and the SaaS benchmark if your reader is the kind of person who will calculate their own number and be annoyed by it.
- Can I change the chapters?
- You should. A template is a starting shape, not a contract — rename, reorder and cut chapters in the editor, and the PDF redraws as you go.
